Information for patients and their families.
Ear implant acupuncture is a supportive method for Parkinson’s disease therapy, used for many years by German physicians specializing in neurological disorders. The procedure involves inserting microscopic, biocompatible implants into selected points of the auricle. The implants provide long-term stimulation to nerve endings connected to centers in the nervous system. As a result, they can support the balance of the nervous system, improve motor coordination, and alleviate hand tremors and muscle tension in many patients. In many cases, hand tremors are reduced almost to zero, allowing for a significant improvement in the quality of life.
Clinical observations by German doctors show that approximately six months after the procedure, more than half of the patients reported improvement in tremors, rigidity, and bradykinesia (slowness of movement). Some patients also experienced improvements in sleep, well-being, and daily comfort. In certain cases, it was possible to reduce medication dosages, always following consultation with a neurologist. The implants remain in the ear for several years, acting gently and continuously.
Patients usually notice the first effects after about two months, with the maximum therapeutic effect achieved after about half a year. The implants work for up to five years – it is a one-time procedure that does not require repetition. The method is safe, does not interfere with pharmacological treatment, and can also be used in elderly individuals.
1. Can I get help at your clinic for hand tremors?
Yes, we provide therapy aimed at alleviating hand tremors and other symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. This is a supportive method for neurological treatment – safe, gentle, and well-tolerated.
2. What exactly does this procedure involve?
The procedure involves inserting very small, biocompatible microimplants into specific points on the auricle. It is a variation of acupuncture where the implants continuously stimulate selected points, supporting the natural regulation of the nervous system.
3. How does it actually work?
This is long-acting acupuncture – the microimplants remain in the skin for up to several years, gently stimulating nerve endings. Through this, they can calm excessive nerve impulses and improve movement control. The effects appear after about two months, with the full result visible after half a year.
4. Does it hurt?
No. The procedure is practically painless – patients only feel a slight prick or warmth, and no anesthesia is needed.
5. Is it safe for people with Parkinson’s?
Yes, the method is entirely safe. It does not interfere with pharmacological treatment, does not require discontinuing medications, and is well-tolerated even by elderly individuals.
6. Do I need to stop taking my medication?
No, absolutely not. This is a supportive therapy, not a replacement for neurological treatment. We always recommend informing your attending physician about starting any additional therapy.
7. How long does the effect of the procedure last?
It is a one-time procedure, and the implants work for up to five years. The effect develops gradually – from two months to half a year – and then persists for years.
8. Are there any side effects?
We do not observe any serious side effects. Sometimes slight skin redness appears, which resolves on its own.
9. Who performs the procedure?
The procedure is performed by a team consisting of a certified acupuncturist, a doctor, and a nurse. Everything takes place in a medical environment, maintaining full sterility and patient safety. The procedure lasts about 30–40 minutes and does not require anesthesia or hospitalization.
9a. Do I receive any support or further recommendations after the procedure?
Yes, every patient receives individual therapeutic support after the procedure. In some cases, we recommend home neurorehabilitation using a special device at home that supports brain function, improves motor coordination, and enhances cognitive functions. Every patient is also provided with psychotherapeutic support – we help patients understand how to cope with the symptoms of the disease and the emotions associated with it. If needed, we also involve the patient’s loved ones in the conversations. Patients who are unable to use in-person support at our clinic can attend online sessions. After each procedure, the patient receives full documentation and information for their attending physician.
10. Can I function normally after the procedure?
Yes. It does not require recovery time or impose any restrictions. The patient can immediately return to their daily activities.
11. Can it be performed on an elderly person?
Yes, the method is safe for seniors as well. Often, elderly individuals benefit the most because the procedure is natural, gentle, and places no strain on the body.
12. How much does it cost?
The cost is fixed since the procedure is performed only once. Detailed information is provided during the initial conversation or consultation.
13. Is it guaranteed to help me?
Every organism reacts individually, so we cannot guarantee a 100% result. However, from experience, we know that the method brings significant improvement to many patients – milder tremors, better sleep, greater peace of body and mind, and in many cases, hand tremors are reduced almost to zero or to barely visible symptoms. This is a supportive therapy aimed at improving the quality of life.
14. Do the implants interfere with tests such as MRI or CT scans?
No, the implants do not disrupt the operation of diagnostic equipment such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) or Computed Tomography (CT). The material they are made of is biocompatible and safe – it is based on polylactic acid (PLA), so it does not conduct magnetic fields and does not cause image artifacts. Diagnostic tests can be performed without any restrictions.
